Shakedown flight testing commenced in February 2012 and was completed in June 2012. The shakedown program exercised the TR blade in all critical flight regimes beyond the Flight Manual Limits (as required by FARs to prepare for upcoming certification flights). Composite blade loads were compared to existing aluminum blade loads for a S-61 derivative. No design anomalies were uncovered during the shakedown program and the decision to proceed to certification flight testing was easy.
